 | One of the most celebrated tales in western literature, Sophocles' Antigone describes the story of a woman who defied authority. Creon, the leader of Thebes, is a dictatorial leader caught in a major leadership dilemma between what he saw best for his kingdom (organization) vs. the demands of an individual (Antigone). Antigone espouses the very highest of human qualities. Yet, through their study of this case, students discover disturbing similarities in the leadership styles of both Creon and Antigone. The case study enables students to discover situations from their own experience that reflect the actions of Sophocles' characters.
